"The rules were set a year and a half ago. Florida and Michigan voted for them and then decided that they didn't need to abide by the rules. When you're in a contest you do need to abide by the rules."
--Howard Dean, www.Playahata.com
I’m telling you the Dems is acting just like republicans. I almost can’t blame Talib Kweli for not voting these days. Howard Dean, the DNC national chair is making that “yeee-hah!” battle cry seem less like a fluke and more like a glimpse into his sick mind.
I mean, how else would you explain telling states upfront that unless you stick some arbitrary script cooked up by a handful of elites that your votes and delegates won’t count?
Howard Dean has made it crystal clear that he doesn’t care about voters anymore than Dick Cheney cares about getting out of Iraq. (C’mon, wasn’t Cheney's “so” comment the wildest thing you’ve heard come out of the White House in 8 years? And why didn't it get more coverage?) You can’t penalize people because they moved up their primaries to make their votes more relevant. Unless you're the Democratic National Committee and you've gota Republican-envy complex want to show everyone's who in charge.
Howard Dean is less of a chairman and more like that substitute teacher that knows he’s gettin’ a check whether you learn or not and really doesn’t care either way; he’s just gonna make you follow some stupid rules so can say he accomplished something that day. He's never spoken up on any serious issues since he cowboy'd his way out of the front-runner slot some 5 years ago.
Now he's all for jerking over Flordia, Michigan and any state that even thinks about moving up primaries and not following these dumb schedules they've set up. But make no mistake, the biggest issue here is that Hilary and Obama and even my guy John Edwards went along with this non-sense from jump.
Nobody stood up to Deaniac and said, "Hey let people vote early if they want--the better the turn-out for the states, the more empowered voters feel, the more we show ourselves to be different from the republicans, the better for us Dems."
But no. they all folded and fell in line. All the candidates signed the agreement papers and refused to campaign in Florida or Michigan. Some folks even pulled their names off the ballots—Obama wasn't on the ballot in Michigan, Edwards was off the ballot in Florida.
And let's be clear, the only reason Hilary Rodham Clinton is shooting off her mouth claiming to be a voters’ rights advocate is because she did the same thing as all the other candidates, only she kept her fingers crossed behind her back. She went down to Florida and Michigan and threw celebration parties and demanded that both wins count because they were in her favor. (She’s so phony in that regard.)
The DNC is no different from the RNC now--they're both run by elites who want what they want no matter what the people want and Hilary's showing herself to be a sloppy, no-game-having hustler who'll do whatever it takes to satisfy her agenda.
As for Obama, he's disappointing me more and more with each passing day.
