Comedians are still struggling to figure out how to make fun of Obama. So I've teamed with Jimmy Kimmel to give all the jokesters out there a couple suggestions:
First off, a question: What makes Obama funny other than he does fit the stereotypes of black men that we refuse to see as anything other than truth?
Let's see... Obama’s articulate, he works hard, he’s smart, has a stable relationship, a resume filled with accomplishments few others can claim, no prison record, etc.
In other words, Barack Obama has become everything that mainstream america insists black men need to be in order to be accepted and not ridiculed. And his reward? Legions of pundits and comedians wondering aloud:
"Dammit, why can’t Obama be more of a 'nigger 'so we can feel better about laughing at him?"
Even though he's trying in this skit, Kimmel represents all the weak-minded comics out there that can’t get past the fact that 99.5% of Black men aren’t walking punchlines and the living embodiment of racist stereotypes.
So here's the real skinny on Obama Humor: Treat dude like Bush, Clinton and all the other white politicians—wait for him to do something worthy of ridicule then be clever enough to highlight said act in a smart way. You know… "Comedy."
Think about every major politician in the last oh, 200 years: They actually said something worth laughing at. They actually did things worthy of joking about. Bill Clinto, for all his intellect managed to screw everything in the White House but the light-bulbs and drywall. Bush was a myopic moron of biblical proportions and managed to prove it thru word and deed on a near-weekly basis. They weren't the butt of jokes as much as they were the proof.
Obama... again, what's he done, really? Have 2 kids by the same woman? Live up to standards of academic excellence in school? Work hard? Give back to his community? Yeah... what a dumbass.
Got forbid we actually expect comedians to craft an effin’ joke these days based on something other than lazy thinking, over-the-top assumptions.
This is same same ish we got mad at ComicView/DefComedyJam for—just standing up and throwing out tired-ass “you know, white people sho is funny!”
